AU Backstory:
Life for Kizna Towryk had been a little… odd since the beginning. For one, instead of human ears, she was born with set of tan cat ears perched atop her head. For another, she apparently had a twin brother whom she hadn’t even met until a year or so ago. That last one? She was still reeling from. Before then, she’d only known that her parents had died when she was a baby, and that no known relatives had stepped up to take her in; thus, she’d been put in the foster system. It was a strange twist of fate that had placed her in the same house as her twin, Rei (more commonly called Zero), and an even stranger twist that had enabled them to acquire their birth certificates, showing that, in fact, they were siblings.

Of course, not that it made much a difference in their relationship. Since day one, they’d acted as brother and sister: becoming very protective, trusting, and supportive of each other, but still jumping at every chance to annoy and tease the hell out of each other as well. Zero was a bit of a trouble maker, after all, and a big-mouth who lacked tact… he needed his “little” sister to keep him in line. And Kizna needed him for… well, who else was she going to yell at and smack around? After all, while she was as aggressive as any boy could be (she was known for talking and acting in a masculine manner), she wasn’t really of the abusive sort. Zero just happened to deserve it, more often than not, and she was happy to let out some of her aggression.

When she’d gotten the invitation to St. Catherine’s, she’d had mixed feelings about going. On one hand, she was enthused about meeting new people and making new friends, but on the other… she knew she’d really miss her brother. It wasn’t until after a late night conversation with Zero, in which he assured her he’d be fine and that she’d be stupid to turn it down, that she decided to accept the invitation and enroll.
